FATHER'S DAY TIE

One of my kid's (and my husband's) favorites.

CLIP ON TIES!

My daughter did this last year, not quite 2 then and my son, neice and nefew that range up to age seven. All had fun and all the dad's were thrilled.

They can be as easy or complicated as you like. The only tricky part will be me trying to write out the directions for the clip on without aid of pictures. (So bear with me)

For the tie itself:

  • one tie shape cut out of construction paper ( I generally make them the length of a tied tie, but a bit wider - sort of a "70's" tie! LOL)
  • decorations for jazzing up your tie (stickers, paint, markers, crayons, etc..)
  • *** For my little ones, I like to keep a tin full of pre cut 1inch shapes from construction paper scraps. They paste these various shapes of varying colors onto their tie. (Personally I think these one's look the best - older ones can cut their own shapes.)

    The clip:
you need a black pipe cleaner (chenille stick) cut in half.

  • Now, take your straight pipe cleaner and make it into an elongated "U"
  • Lay your "U" on the table and taking hold of the curved end (as opposed to the two straight individual ends), fold your "U" in half. The out come will be something like this:

The two ends will be taped to the back of your tie's top and the folded part of your clip will be at the top. This leaves the curved, soft part of your piece to "clip on" to dad's shirt.

My kid's dad wears them with pride and the great thing is, he doesn't have to wear a dress shirt to wear this tie...it will clip on to t-shirts, tank tops, whatever the weather and day calls for.

    Happy Father's Day.

    Also good for men's birthdays.
